Mise-en-scène from one of my favorite films “Rinco’s Restaurant [食堂かたつむり].” Daughter has a long-standing difficult relationship with narcissistic mother. Mother makes lofty entrance with rose petals into sento bath to announce that she has cancer.

with the Cuban poet, Soleida Ríos. I like the warmth of this photo. Soleida is a generous, transparent, and spiritual person. She told us something interesting: “Communism is good for me in particular because I´m terrible with money, this way I don´t have to think or worry about money.”
